Ear Microsuction & Ear Wax Removal | Allied Pharmacies

Blocked ears caused by excess ear wax can lead to reduced hearing, discomfort and a feeling of pressure in the ear. If ear wax builds up and becomes impacted, it may require professional removal to restore normal hearing and relieve symptoms.

At Allied Pharmacies, we offer professional ear wax removal using microsuction, one of the safest and most effective methods for clearing blocked ears. The procedure is carried out by trained pharmacy professionals using specialist equipment to remove wax gently and precisely.

What is Ear Microsuction?

Ear microsuction is a clinical procedure used to remove excess ear wax from the ear canal using a small, low-pressure suction device and magnification equipment.

Unlike traditional ear syringing or irrigation, microsuction does not involve water, making it suitable for a wider range of patients and reducing the risk of infection or complications.

Because the procedure is performed under direct visual guidance, it allows healthcare professionals to remove wax safely and accurately from the ear canal.

Microsuction is widely regarded as one of the most effective and comfortable ways to remove ear wax.

Symptoms of Ear Wax Build-Up

Ear wax is a natural substance that protects the ear canal, but sometimes it can accumulate and cause symptoms.

Common signs of ear wax build-up include:

  • Blocked or muffled hearing
  • Earache or ear discomfort
  • A feeling of fullness in the ear
  • Tinnitus (ringing or buzzing in the ear)
  • Itching in the ear canal
  • Dizziness or balance issues

If these symptoms occur, professional ear wax removal may help restore normal hearing and comfort.

What Happens During an Ear Microsuction Appointment?

Ear microsuction appointments are quick, safe and usually take around 15–30 minutes.

Ear Examination - The pharmacist first examines the ear using an otoscope to check the ear canal and confirm that wax removal is appropriate.

Microsuction Procedure - A small suction device is carefully inserted into the ear canal to gently remove wax under magnification.

You may hear a soft suction sound during the procedure, which is completely normal.

Immediate Results - In many cases, ear wax can be removed in a single session and patients often experience immediate improvement in hearing and comfort.

After the procedure, you can return to your normal activities straight away.

Why Choose Microsuction for Ear Wax Removal?

Microsuction offers several advantages compared with traditional ear syringing methods.

Benefits include:

  • No water used during the procedure
  • Lower risk of infection or irritation
  • Suitable for people with sensitive ears
  • Precise removal under magnification
  • Quick treatment with minimal discomfort

For these reasons, microsuction is widely considered the preferred clinical method for professional ear wax removal.
