Book a stop smoking consultation if you want to quit and would like professional help to do it. The service is for you if you:

  • Have decided to quit and want to set a quit date
  • Have tried before and struggled with cravings or withdrawal
  • Want advice on nicotine replacement therapy
  • Need ongoing support through the first few difficult months

Research shows people who get professional support are significantly more likely to quit for good.

What is the Stop Smoking Service?

Stopping smoking is one of the best decisions you can make for your health, but nicotine addiction and withdrawal symptoms make it hard to do alone. The Stop Smoking Service gives you expert guidance and access to proven treatments that reduce cravings. Community pharmacies are one of the easiest places to get that help, with no appointment and no waiting list.

How we help you quit

  • A personalised quit plan - your pharmacist discusses your smoking habits and helps you set a quit date and a strategy
  • Nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) - patches, gum, lozenges, inhalators and nasal sprays to reduce cravings and withdrawal, with advice on which suits you best
  • Ongoing support - regular follow-ups, encouragement and monitoring during the first few months, when relapse risk is highest

Benefits of quitting smoking

  • Improved breathing and lung function
  • Reduced risk of heart disease and stroke
  • Better circulation
  • A sharper sense of taste and smell
  • More energy

Quitting also lowers your long-term risk of cancer, heart disease and chronic lung disease.
