Do I need a referral to access this service?
Yes. This service is for patients who have been referred from an acute NHS trust, during their discharge. These patients are then able to receive pharmacist advice and treatment under the Stop Smoking service at Allied Pharmacy.
NRT is short for nicotine replacement therapy. NRT is a medicine that contains a low level of nicotine (excluding the tar, carbon monoxide and other poisonous chemicals present in tobacco). This medicine can come in the form of skin patches, chewing gum, inhalators, tablets, lozenges, or nasal sprays etc.
Yes. You can come into your local Allied Pharmacy and seek advice on stopping smoking. In addition, you can also come into your local Allied Pharmacy to purchase NRT treatment.
