Come in for a rapid test if:
Lateral flow tests, also called rapid antigen tests, detect proteins associated with an infection. A nasal or throat swab is applied to a test strip containing antibodies that react with the target substance, and a visible line appears within 15 to 30 minutes if the result is positive.
They are less sensitive than laboratory PCR tests but far faster. Accuracy is highest in people with symptoms, and specificity is high, so a positive result is very likely to be genuine. A negative result with ongoing symptoms may need further testing, and our pharmacists can advise.
Some countries still require proof of a negative COVID-19 test. We provide supervised tests with official certificates that meet international travel requirements, so check your destination's rules in advance and book within the required testing window.
Supervised testing also carries more weight than self-administered kits for employers and travel authorities. Incorrect swabbing is one of the most common causes of a false negative at home, and a pharmacist-taken swab significantly improves accuracy. We can also support workplace testing programmes with bulk kit supply and guidance on protocols.
Results in 15 to 30 minutes while you wait, pharmacist-supervised for accuracy, official certificates for travel and work, and no appointment needed at most branches. Use the postcode search above to find your nearest Allied Pharmacy.
